Postpartum doulas help the parents of new infants adjust and grow into a new phase in their family’s life. I provide insight and support regarding the physical and psychological nuances of the postpartum period, offer an extra set of hands to help you adjust to a demanding new schedule, and give hands-on, infant- and mama-care training.

Here are more examples of all the different kinds of help a postpartum doula can provide:

  • Breastfeeding help
  • Help understanding baby cues
  • Diapering and baby care
  • Help with older children while parents bond with new baby
  • Light housekeeping assistance
  • Meal preparation
  • Running Errands
  • Resources and referrals
  • Non-judgmental family support
  • Screening for postpartum mood disorders
  • Infant sleep solutions
  • Care for baby when parents want to shower, nap, or spend some special time with older child(ren)
  • Hands-on education for infant and mama care

4-Hour Day Shift with Mom & Newborn at Home
(This is just an example --- each person's wishes for Postpartum Care are different!)
10AM - I arrive and Mom and I chat about how things are going and the goals for my shift.
10:30AM - While you snuggle and nurse or bottle-feed your baby, I do a load of laundry, wipe down counters, and thaw out meat for your evening dinner.
11:00AM - Baby has a full belly, so I take him from you and rock him and lay him down for a nap using the sleep method you prefer. Mom takes a relaxing bath and has time for self care while I'm doing this.
11:30AM - While baby naps, I finish and dishes in the sink or any light cleaning needed.
Noon - Baby wakes and I bring him to Mom (along with a snack and magazine) for Mom to nurse or bottle feed and snuggle. While you feed baby, I prepare lunch for you.
12:30 - I change and entertain to baby while Mom eats lunch. Sometimes Mom and I chat about any issues, challenges, or successes during this time and sometimes Mom just enjoys relaxing.
1:00PM - Mom takes a much needed nap while I care for baby. Or Mom plays with baby while I do some light housecleaning and/or dinner prep.
1:45PM - Before leaving we talk about any plans for next time!

Daytime services start at 4 hours (minimum), between the hours of 8am and 8pm.

Overnight Services | $25/hr ($30/hr twins)
Overnight services consist of an 8-10 hour shift (minimum) where I am a listening ear for you to share needs, requests, and concerns from the days prior. I assist with the baby’s final feeding, changing and dressing before bed. If you so choose, I will gladly soothe the child to sleep so you can take advantage of some much needed uninterrupted sleep. If you would like, I will stay in the baby's room with him/her during the night and bring him/her to you for feedings if you are breastfeeding (and then take baby back to his/her room to soothe to sleep) or I can bottle feed for you if you are bottle feeding.
